I n  a statement released on Monday, the management of Ecobank  Nigeria , in its committment  to  digital transformation, has shutdown scores of its branches and merged it with others. Ecobank Nigeria, a subsidiary of the Ecobank group, says it has merged 74 of its branches, adding that it would deploy staff from the merged branches to other projects,  The Sun  reports. A statement by the bank reaffirmed its committment to digital transformation, which would enable customers carry out banking activities online, thereby reducing the need to visit physical locations. Managing Director of the  bank, Charles Kie, said the bank hopes to shift its activities to digital channels and improve customers’ experience at reduced cost.
